Jason Scott Hamlin, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on September 18, 2025, at the age of 51, in Medicine Park, Oklahoma. Born on December 14,1973, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Jason was the cherished son of Patty (Mollison) Hamlin and the late Joe W. Hamlin.
From an early age Jason stood out for his curiosity and love for adventure, his strength of character, and a deep love for family, country, and the outdoors. He attended Tomlinson Junior High and graduated from Lawton High School in 1992, where he qualified as a State Championship golfer. He spent time in the summers playing on the AJGA circuit all over the country. His passion and talent for the game followed him to Cameron University, where he played golf at the collegiate level and was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He later continued his studies in biology at the University of Central Oklahoma. In 1995, Jason answered a higher calling and joined the United States Marine Corps. His dedication to service later led him to enlist in the Oklahoma National Guard, with whom he deployed to Afghanistan. In 2009, he graduated from Officer Candidate School and earned his commission, continuing a proud legacy of leadership and honor in uniform, retiring as a 1st Lieutenant.
On November 13, 2010, Jason married the love of his life, Joanne, and together, they built a life full of laughter and love. In 2012, they welcomed their daughter, Molli, who became the light of their life. He was a doting and devoted father and a loving husband and took every opportunity to talk about how proud he was of his family - his greatest joy was simply being with his girls. Jason had a deep appreciation for the natural world. Whether on the golf course or in the woods hunting, he found peace and happiness outdoors. He shared countless cherished moments with his late brother Chris and lifelong friends, bonding over birdies and deer blinds, always with laughter close behind - memories that he held very close to his heart. Those who knew Jason will remember him for his kind heart and generous spirit, his quiet strength, and his unwavering love for his friends and family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched - especially in Joanne and Molli, whom he adored beyond measure.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his daughter, Molli (Mollison); his mother, Patty Hamlin; his nephew, Cooper Hamlin; his beloved Aunt, Suzanne Mollison; and many extended family members, fellow service members, and close friends who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude. Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr. Malcolm "Mac" and Dorothy Mollison, his brother, Christopher Hamlin (his best friend), and his father, Joe W. Hamlin.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at the pavilion in the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jason's memory to the Brain Trauma Foundation at braintrauma.org.
A life of service, love, integrity, resilience, grace, and humor - Jason will be missed more than words can express.
