Funeral Services for Janie Sue Appleton will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Baxter, Chaplain for Promise Care Hospice officiating.

Burial will follow in Cache Cemetery, Cache, Oklahoma.

Janie passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Janie was born November 11, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Hershel and Pauline (Wyatt) McCarty, and moved with her family to Chickasha in 1947. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1960, attended Oklahoma College for Women her freshman year. She married her high school sweetheart Jackie Leon Appleton August 3, 1961 in Chickasha. They lived in Anadarko briefly before moving to Weatherford and then to Shawnee, Oklahoma where she worked various office jobs. She and Jackie moved to Lawton in 1969 where she worked for a local accounting firm. In 1990 she went to work for the State of Oklahoma, Department of Corrections in the Business Office, then moved into the Human Resources Unit before retiring in 2004.

Janie is survived by her daughter, Cynthia LaNae Emmett of Lawton; her son, Shawn Daniel and wife Sara Appleton of Lawton, three granddaughters, Chelsey & Ben Bench of Oklahoma City, Cori Emmett, Oklahoma City, Madison Appleton Lawton, two great grandsons Brooks Bench and Basie Bench, two sisters Carol Neal of Oklahoma City and Shirley Sanders of Chickasha plus several nieces and nephews and their families.

Janie is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her two brothers, Herbert and Monte McCarty.
