It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Janice Elizabeth Lawton. Janice passed peacefully at home in Lawton, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the age of 65. She was born in Warren, Pennsylvania, to John and Carol (Russell) Nelson.

Janice grew up in Russell, Pennsylvania and was married to Brian Lawton in 1985. He preceded her in death in 2000. She later met her companion, Bruce Oertelt, Jr., and relocated to Lawton, Oklahoma in 2019.

Janice worked as a cook and at the time of her death was employed by Wright's Family Diner where she worked for many years. Janice's homemade pizza will forever be remembered by all who enjoyed it. She also enjoyed sewing and baking.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Curtis Anderson and wife Tausha, Matthew Lawton and wife Briana, and Tyler Lawton; four grandchildren; her companion, Bruce Oertelt Jr.; her siblings, Regina Nelson, Don Nelson, Bob Nelson, Lina Gettings as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.
