Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home, Lawton, Oklahoma.
Janette Louise King, 81, a resident of Norman, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 4, 2023. She was born November 8, 1941 in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Harold and Juanita Walker.
Janette graduated from Marlow High School in 1959. After graduation, she attended Wichita General Hospital School of Nursing at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she graduated and achieved the status of a registered nurse on November 29, 1962. She was qualified to practice professional nursing in both Texas and Oklahoma. Janette worked about 7 years at Reynolds Army Hospital at Ft Sill, Oklahoma. They switched her to charge nurse on the night shift and she was responsible for the whole wing. While she was renting a room off base, she met and fell in love with Rudy John King while he was stationed at Ft Sill. They were married in Marlow, Oklahoma, on May 21, 1967. They moved to Anadarko, Oklahoma in 1972, where she began working at Friendship Manor Nursing Home. She finished her nursing career at the Cyril Nursing Home in Cyril, Oklahoma. After working as an RN for 20+ years, she sold and distributed Avon products for another 20+ years, where she earned many awards. She was proud of her collection of Albee porcelain figurines that she earned throughout her Avon career.
She loved reading romance novels, listening to Willie Nelson and other classic country greats, and collecting things of beauty. She was proud to live in the United States. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for about 50 years. She enjoyed her ladies Sunday School class. Janette had three sons: Ken, Terry and Tim. She took pride in their accomplishments as young men and watching their families grow. When the grandchildren came along, she enjoyed giving gifts that were specific to their individual characteristics.
Two of Janette's nieces, Kristie and Glenda, Johnny Walkers' daughters, expressed to us that "She gave us the best three boy cousins! She always had the best Christmas presents and gave us multiple things that we so looked forward too. She brought cookies, brownies and fudge to the holidays where we didn't have to suffer with the older people's pies! She always made sure she spoke and had a conversation with us when we were growing up. She was one of Grandma's best friends!"
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold and Juanita Walker, husband Rudy and an infant grandson, Tanner.
She is survived by brothers Lynn Walker and Johnny Walker and sister Linda Walker; her sons Ken and wife, Gisela; Terry and wife, Jennifer; Tim and wife, Shana; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Serenity, Ceannah, Jordan, Jayla, Jentzen, Nikolas, Joella, and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief Fund, or to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, both at 3800 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
