Funeral service for James Curtis Gardner will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at The Church of God, with Rev. Ronnie Howard, Pastor officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

James Curtis Gardner, 75, of Lawton, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, in Lawton.

James was born March 3, 1947, in Ringling, Oklahoma to William Earnest and Lillie Belle (Abshire) Gardner. He graduated from Waurika High School in 1965. He married Kathryn Sue Clayton on June 26, 1965, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He then went to work for Civil Service Fort Sill as a Training Aid Maker until his retirement on June 20, 2001. He worked for the Civil service for 35 ½ years.

James enjoyed woodworking and built several pieces of furniture that the family still cherish. He enjoyed writing poems in his spare time, but what he was most known for was helping others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed by all those who knew him.

James is survived by his wife of the home, Kathryn Sue Gardner; son, Curtis Gardner and wife, Cathy; two daughters, Karen Love and husband, Jeromy and Cheryl Baquera and husband, Julian; son, Dominic and foster daughter, Richa; seven grandchildren, Casey Love and wife, Kelsey, Dakota Love, Steven Love, Sebastian Baquera, Cheveyo Baquera, Rhiannon Gardner, and Merrick Gardner; and five great grandchildren, Lee, Maze, Sofie, Chase, and Aria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.
