Graveside service for Irene Powell, 93, Lawton will be at 11:00 am Monday at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill with Rev. Zella South, Lawton officiating. Mrs. Powell died Friday in a local nursing home following a brief illness. Burial will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born June 30, 1917 in Greenland, Arkansas to Lake and Dora (Lee) Webb. She married 1SG (Retired) Walden Ernest Powell on June 18, 1938 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He died April 28, 1985. She has been a Lawton residence since 1960, and was a member of Bethel Assembly of God where she was Sunday school class secretary for many years. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter Lea Peebles of Fort Worth, TX, grandson Clay David Peebles and wife Katrina of Southlake, TX, two great granddaughters, Kayla Peebles of Austin, TX and Emily Peebles of Southlake, TX. She is also survived by a nephew Charles K. Easterling of Rogers, AR and a niece Candace Nance of Fayetteville, AR.
