Memorial service for Irene Lanning will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with George Mayes, pastor of Northwest Baptist Church officiating.

Irene Lanning, age 60, of Lawton, passed away at home Thursday, October 6, 2016.

Irene was born in Tokyo, Japan to Yoshiko and Richard Hanson on January 16, 1956. She came to the United States in 1957 and lived in Montana. She moved to Lawton, OK in the 1960's and attended Eisenhower Junior High and graduated from Lawton High School. Irene joined the Air Force after graduation and served for 2 years before attending The University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas where she earned a Bachelors of Science Nursing degree in 1982. She moved back to Lawton and worked for over 30 years at Reynolds Army Community Hospital as an RN. In 2011 she was able to go on the trip of a lifetime to Africa where she hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, had breakfast with elephants and saw Victoria Falls. She was an avid reader, music-lover and talented baker with the most giving heart.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughter Sara Henderson and husband Josh; grandson Tyler Henderson; and two siblings Bill Hanson and JoAnn Kyle.
