Mrs. Bridwell died Friday in Grove, Oklahoma, where she has lived with her daughter and grandson for the past four years. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born January 8, 1915 on a farm outside Sterling, Oklahoma to Edward David and Bessie Lee (Corder) Pannell formerly of Printiss County, Mississippi. Each, as early pioneers, had moved west with family to the Oklahoma Territory in 1890 and 1901 and married in 1906 in Sterling. Inez was the 4th of 9 children attending Cottonwood School and then Sterling schools. She married Oliver James Bridwell also of Sterling on October 25, 1932. They had one daughter, Karen Olivet, who was born in Oklahoma City in 1940 where Mr. Bridwell worked at Tinker Air Force Base during WWI. They moved to Lawton in 1946. Mrs. Bridwell worked at Ft. Sill and also for the Lawton Gas Company until she became head cashier when the Sears store opened on Ft. Sill Blvd and continued to work there until she retired 25 years later. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in 1951. She was also a member of the Pioneer Club. She was always proud of her pioneer family and its roots in Oklahoma. Throughout her life she renewed the pioneer breed and spirit by meeting the problems and hardships of the day with the same fortitude of those women pioneers of yesterday. In 2003, The Pioneer Club of Lawton honored her by voting her Pioneer Woman of the Year. Survivors include: a daughter, Karen Richmond of Grove, three grandsons, Steve Parsons Richmond, Grove; David Parsons Richmond, Olathe, Kansas and Charles Bowles, Ennis, Texas; three granddaughters, Kirsten Fulkerson and Dede Quinn of Scottsdale, AZ.; and Circe Boman, Loveland, Co.; and eleven great grandchildren.
