Obituary

Funeral for Ida Mary Russell will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Mallow, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. Ida Mary Russell, 66, of Lawton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, in Lawton. She was born April 23, 1949, in Lawton, to John W. and Dorothy A. Dunford Russell. She lived in Lawton all of her life. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1967 and graduated from Cameron University. She started work in 1974 at the Lawton Constitution, where she worked as a dedicated bookkeeper for 41 years. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved horses and had them all of her life to love and spoil. She was a lifetime member of the Appaloosa Horse Association. She also raised and bred Pomeranians at one time. She was a Country Music fan, and Pro-Rodeo fan, and she loved OU and Dallas Football games. If you were a friend, you didn't call her when her games were on. Through the years she supported her co-workers' kids-fund raisers, and she would always loan out her flatbed or her horse trailer to anyone in need. She is survived by one brother, Johnny Ray Russell, of Dallas; several aunts and cousins; and a very special caretaker and friend, Shala Kerrick. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Dorothy Russell. An online guest book and sympathy cards are available at www.beckerfuneral.com.
