Homer passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024.  He was born to Homer L. Sr. and Ava (Puckett) Taylor on March 2, 1927, east of Lawton.  He attended Fairview Elementary and Central High School.  He married the love of his life, Shirley Lucille Leu on February 4, 1950.  To this union were born two daughters, Debrah Kay and Judith Ann.

Homer was drafted into the Army on June 6, 1945.  He worked for the National Guard and was sent to Korea in 1950.  He was honorably discharged in 1952.  He then worked for 34 years with Civil Service as a heavy equipment operator.  He was a member of Lawton Heights United Methodist Church, where he served on boards and committees.

Gramps has three grandsons that think he was perfect!  They loved listening to his stories, jokes, and little ditties.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He taught his girls that your word was as good as a handshake, to work hard, and always be honest.  Most importantly, he always made sure we knew how loved we were.

He had leukemia for seven and a half years, and took chemo, never complaining at any point.  He always had a smile on his face and he loved to tease.

Homer is survived by his wife, Lucille, daughter, Debrah Duncan Huegel of Weatherford, Oklahoma, daughter, Judy Hankins and husband, Dwight also of Weatherford, Oklahoma.  Grandsons are Matthew L. Duncan of Terrell, Texas, Tanner Hankins and wife, Mallory of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Tyle Hankins and fiancé, Addison Hall of Chickasha, Oklahoma.  He has three additional blessings of great grandchildren, Cooper, Kit and Cal Hankins of Weatherford, Oklahoma and many nieces, nephews and friends.  His memory will be cherished forever!

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold and sisters, Janette, Nora, Reba and son-in-law, Mel Duncan.

A special thanks goes to Dr. Jose Najera and all those at the Leah Fitch Cancer Center, The Brentwood Assisted Living, Complete Oklahoma Hospice, and Dr. Brent Smith.
