Age 96, Pflugerville, Texas - Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Fletcher Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Campbell, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Fletcher, officiating. Mr. Herbert died Friday in Pflugerville, Texas. Burial will be under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (Formerly Robbins Funeral Home). He was born on September 25, 1912 in Wheatland, Missouri to Albert E. and Rosa Mae (Jones) Herbert. When he was young he worked with his family harvesting maple trees and collecting honey. He worked for civil service and traveled to many places. He liked working on and took great pride in the cars that he owned. He was a Mason. Survivors include four grandchildren, Cathe Myers and her husband, Wayne, Pat Broddie and her husband, Steve, and Poche Herbert, all of Turlock, California, and Denise McGillivray and her husband, Mark, of Pflugerville, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jannie Chavez of Turlock, California; 15 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and a cousin, Robert Cable of Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dix Chestley, a grandson, Allen E. Herbert, two brothers, Bernie Joe and Joe Stanley Herbert, a sister, Mary Janette Herbert, his first wife, Pat Herbert, a companion, Velma Anderson, and his stepmother, Rena Herbert.
