Funeral service for Hildegard Gray, 85, Lawton, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Richard W. Gray and Kenneth G. Gray officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. June 21st, 1927 Hildegard Gray, whom her family and friends knew as Hilde, was born in Landshut, Germany. She passed from this life into God's presence on November 12, 2012 at Cedar Creek Living Center where in her 9 month stay she made numerous new loving friends. Hilde married Warren G. Gray, a US Serviceman at the time, in Wiesbaden, Germany. In 1955 she moved to New York with her husband and children. She proudly obtained her US citizenship in 1957. In 1958 Hilde, Warren, and their two children, Richie and Patti, moved to Medicine Park, Oklahoma where their youngest son Ken was born in 1962. Hilde was a resident of the Lawton, Oklahoma area for a total of 51 years. Hilde loved the outdoors, being an avid participant in water skiing events and walking into her 80's. She enjoyed competition water skiing, regionally placing 1st in trick skiing in her age group while in her late 70's. One year she placed second nationally in trick skiing in the female, age 75-79 age group. She was also the oldest participant in Lawton's "Frost Your Fanny" walk for many years. More significantly, Hilde loved her family with a never-ending sacrificial love and embodied a sacrificial faith that endured through the years and accompanied her into God's presence. Hilde was preceded in death by Warren, the husband she said she "would always love", in 1996. She is survived by her son Richard W. Gray and his wife Maria of Norman, her daughter Patricia S. Bray and her husband Mike of Marlow, and her son Kenneth G. Gray and wife Kathy of Lawton. She is also the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 6 great grandchildren. In addition she is survived by a sister Hanna in Germany. Though her memories of love surround us, Hilde will be greatly missed.
