Graveside service for former Lawton resident Helen S. Smith will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. William F. Watkins officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Helen Spence Smith, age 90, of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Oklahoma City. Helen was born in Galveston, TX on December 2, 1924 to Ernestine Watts Spence and Robert Reese Spence. She graduated from San Jacinto High School, Houston, TX in 1942. Helen married the late John Cryder Smith on March 1, 1950 in Manila, Philippine Islands. Helen is survived by two children: Anne Blood and husband, Ken of Oklahoma City and Clint Smith and wife Jo of Marietta, GA. She also is survived by 6 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emily, Rebecca and John Blood, all of Oklahoma City and Jennifer and Matt Smith, both of Marietta, GA. Among other things, Helen dearly loved her children and grandchildren and possessed a lifelong love of reading, antique collecting, cooking, gardening, sports and poetry. Her wit, kindness, generosity and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
