Funeral service for Helen Evans will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 8, 2018 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Pratt, associate pastor at Lawton First Assembly officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Our beloved Helen Evans passed away early Tuesday morning on October 2, 2018 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 89.  She was surrounded by her family when the Lord called her home into His loving arms.  Helen was born to Frank Mercado and Enedina Trevino on July 12, 1929 in Richard Spur, Oklahoma.  She married Bob Evans on July 12, 1969 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  Helen was a committed mother and homemaker for over 60 years.

Helen was a devoted Christian who loved reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus.  She enjoyed singing, dancing and cooking.  She loved gardening, embroidering and especially shopping.  She was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother with a very contagious laugh that could brighten anyone's day.  Helen enjoyed the simple things in life, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Tooter Dickson and her husband, John and Kay Chesnutt, all of Lawton, two step sons, Gary R. Evans and his wife, Esther, Tucson, Arizona and Michael J. Evans, Leavenworth, Kansas, six grandchildren, Josh Dickson, Jeff Dickson, Jaime Chesnutt, Lori Chesnutt, Danielle Zieff and Mike Evans, Jr., three great grandchildren, Taylor Dickson, Jaden Dickson and Jacey Dickson and a sister, Henryetta Ortiz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Celia Ramirez and three brothers, Mike Salazar, David Salazar and Leon Mercado.
