Heidemarie D. Martinez, 76, was born August 24, 1948 in Sonneberg, Germany.  She passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in Lawton.

Heide Martinez was everyone's Oma. Whether you were family, a neighbor, a friend, or someone she had just met, she welcomed you with open arms and treated you as one of her own. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and an abundance of delicious food—no one ever left without a to-go plate and an achingly full belly.

Heide came to Oklahoma with her husband, Domingo Martinez, and immediately embraced her role as a loving mother to Shirley Anne Martinez and Benjamin Martinez. In Lawton, she found a vibrant community where she thrived, serving fellow Germans at her restaurants and supporting the Latin American community through the Latin American Community Club.

A devoted animal lover, Heide adored her dogs and treated them like royalty, never hesitating to expand her pack if she encountered a dog in need. But above all, her greatest joy in life was her family. She poured her heart into raising her children, grandchildren—Ashley, Angela, and Autumn—and great-grandchildren, Jericho and Amelia. Nothing made her happier than having her home filled with as many of them as possible.

In retirement, Heide spent her time knitting blankets for local nursing homes, crafting with her beloved German coffee group, tending to her garden, and doting on her dogs. She was surrounded by love and friendship, cherishing her weekly visits with her long-time bonus sister Maria and husband Gordon Brooks, poolside chats with her dear friend Anna Brown, and visits with her sweet neighbors, Tiffannie Benjamin and Officer Kolton Jones.

Heide is survived by her brother, Bernd Knoth, and his wife Karin; her nephew, Daniel; sister-in-law, Silvia Craycraft; and many loving relatives in Germany, as well as her children, Shirley Anne Martinez and Benjamin Martinez. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Ashley Whitby and her partner Drew Kropff, Angela Howard and her husband Michael Howard, and Autumn Sinning and her husband Tristan Sinning, along with her treasured great-grandchildren, Jericho D. Brown and Amelia Howard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo Martinez; her daughter; her brothers, Norbert Knoth and Peter Knoth; and her parents, Max and Elsa Bianga Knoth.

Heide's legacy is one of love, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to family and community. Her kindness and vibrant spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
