Funeral for former Lawton resident Gladys E. Helfinstine, 76, Jay, Oklahoma will be at 1:30 PM Thursday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. William F. Watkins officiating. Mrs. Helfinstine died Tuesday in Jay. Burial will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born January 2, 1934 in Stonewall, Georgia to Charlie and Sally (Yarbrough) King. She married Robert Earl Helfinstine on February 1, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia. He died December 13, 1980. Mrs. Helfinstine was a Lawton resident from 1964 until 2008 when she moved to Jay. Survivors include two sons and their spouses, James and Laurie Helfinstine, Juneau, Alaska and Abe I. and Pam Helfinstine, Jay, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Shirley Helfinstine.
