Trudy Franklin, age 94, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, April 10, 2026.
Trudy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her humor and zest for life.
Gertrude Mock was born in 1932 in Heidelberg, Germany to Karl and Hilde Mock. She was the oldest of 6 children. Even though she faced many challenges during her early years she always reflected fondly on her childhood in Germany.
Trudy met Carl Franklin in Schweinfurt, Germany while he was stationed there in 1952. They were married in 1954 in Germany. They then came to the United States in 1955 along with their daughter Birgit. They returned to Germany several times during Carl's military career, including in 1957 when their second daughter Barbara was born.
Trudy was a devoted military wife. She loved this role and would always lovingly refer to "her Army". Throughout Carl's career in the military, they were stationed many places, but they always returned "home" to Lawton.
In 1975 Carl retired from the Army and they moved home to Oklahoma. They enjoyed retired life by spending time in their pool, playing with grandkids, and taking care of their yard.
Trudy was beloved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents and siblings Christa Shope, Karl Mock, Anton Mock, Gisela MacConnaughey.
She is survived by her sister Edith Mitchell, daughter Barbara Ward, her grandson and his wife Justin and Mariann Ward, their children Cameron and Carson, her daughter Birgit Shepherd, her son-in-law Jerry Shepherd, granddaughter and her husband Rachel and Chad Jacobson, great-grandchildren Josephine and Landon Jacobson.
