George H. Robertson, age 95, of Indiahoma, was reunited in eternal life with his wife of 53 years, Mae, on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Lawton.

George Harold was born on August 25, 1920, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, to Homer C. Robertson and Bessie Stewart Robertson. He grew up in the Saddle Mountain area where he helped his father farm, do carpentry work, and raise his many brothers and sisters. He attended school at Sedan where he finished through eighth grade. In his later years he received an honorary high school diploma from Mountain View. On December 25, 1940 he married the love of his life, Mae Ethel Neuwirth, in Elgin, Oklahoma. On October 23, 1942, George volunteered for the United States Army Air Corp. He did his basic training in Enid, Oklahoma then was stationed at Altus Air Force Base. In October, 1943, he was shipped out to Belfast, Ireland where was assigned to work with the Lockheed Corporation to build and assemble their fighter planes. He later became the head diesel mechanic in charge of engines to operate generators to pump water down the runways in case of crash landings. He was on call twenty four hours a day. George returned home in January 1946 and was honorably discharged in February of that same year. He took great pride serving his country. He, like all who serve and have served, made us proud to be called Americans. Their sacrifice and loyality is why our great United States is what it is today, united and strong. George was definitely one of those heros. His service will always be appreciated. Upon returning home, Mr. Robertson took on many roles, carpenter, farmer, and custom harvester. He built many homes in Southwest Oklahoma making dreams come true for many people. He farmed around the lndiahoma area planting crops and raising cattle and a few horses. He later began to travel doing custom harvesting taking his family along whenever possible. Upon his retirement, he loved to work in his garden, tinker with lawn mowers, and do wood crafting projects. George loved going to his yearly family reunions and spending time with his loved ones. He was known for his loving giving spirit and his charming wit. He gave of his time and money to family and friends. He was an exceptional role model for his children and grandchildren encouraging them whenever possible. Grandpa or PaPa as he was called loved spending time with his grandchildren keeping them mesmerized with his fascinating stories. He wanted so much for his tales to be carried on and his legacy not to be forgotten. He will definitely live on in our hearts.

Mr. Robertson was a man who loved the Lord. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Indiahoma. After he could no longer physically attend, he was actively engaged in his favorite television preachers. He would sit for hours listening, taking notes, and studying God's word. He was a prayer warrior. If ever there was a need, you could depend on him to pray for you just like his grandmother did for him. He knew the good Lord heard every word he sent up in prayer.

George is survived by his children, Sherry Knowles, Lawton; Jay Dee Robertson and wife Ann, lndiahoma; Georgia Berry and husband Darrel, Camden, Tennessee; Peggy Donnell, lndiahoma; Becky
