Memorial service for Genevieve "Gigi" LaPierre, 85, Lawton, will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. LaPierre died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in a local hospital. Burial will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Gigi was born August 31, 1927 in Reims, France to Marcel and Terese (Mallet) Poterlot. She married SFC (Retired) Bertrand W. LaPierre on September 8, 1945 in France. He died February 7, 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Layton, Lawton; a son and daughter in law, Bobby and Carol LaPierre, Elgin; ten grandchildren, Tina and husband Scott Forbis, Russell LaPierre, Jason LaPierre, Jeremy LaPierre, Chad and wife Amanda Layton, Melissa and husband J.R. Tehauno, Chrystal Reyes, Buddy LaPierre, Joshua LaPierre and Anton LaPierre; eighteen great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Claude and Jacqueline Poterlot, Sedan, France; a niece; two nephews; two great nieces; and two great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael LaPierre and a great grandson, Nicholas.
