Garold Michael "Mike" Franklin, age 62, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Oklahoma City surrounded by loving family and friends.

Mike was born in Lawton, Okla., January 5, 1954 to the late Garold and Ellen Franklin. Mike attended Eisenhower Elementary, Junior High, and High School. Mike then went on to attend Cameron University.

Mike was a member of the Boy Scouts and enjoyed playing sports throughout his adolescent life. Mike spent as much time as possible working and playing on the family farm and loved to hunt and fish with his cousins and friends. Mike's experience working on the farm formed the strong work ethic that lasted throughout his life. Some of his favorite memories are from wheat harvests and driving for Johnson's Milk Company whose owner was a great family friend.

Mike joined the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in March of 1979 during the start-up of the Lawton, Oklahoma Plant. Mike worked in various capacities in the Lawton plant as a member of leadership. Mike transferred to the Napanee, Canada plant in 1990 as a member if plant leadership with focus on tire uniformity and played a key role in the plant start up. After moving back to Lawton for several years, Mike transferred to Akron, Ohio in 2007 as a Technology Engineering Consultant and Tire Uniformity expert for the North American operations. In 2014 Mike returned to Lawton, OK in a leadership role, where he was one of only a few experts in Goodyear worldwide for this technical area and contributed significant performance results for his region and on a worldwide basis. In his 38 years of support for the company, Mike was a great teacher, mentor and coach for all of Goodyear.

Mike loved golf, but sure did hate those golf balls. Mike was both vocal and loyal to his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. Mike loved the outdoors and could often be found grilling on the porch or working in his beloved garden. Mike was a loving brother, husband, father, colleague and friend. He married Kelly Wade on May 29, 2004 in Lawton, Okla.

Mike is survived by his wife; Kelly Franklin, his son; Chad Franklin and wife Katie, stepchildren; Natalie, John Paul and Katie Kinmonth, and stepchildren: Jodi Eschiti and Jennifer Sheffield, his two sisters and their husbands; Cindy & Jim Chadwick and Shellie & Bruce Anders, a brother; Kevin, aunt; June Hewes and many loved nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
