Dwyte Fray Palmer, Jr. passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Lawton. He was born August 19, 1928 in Chattanooga, OK to Dwyte F. and Myrtie (Stimpson) Palmer, Sr.  His family moved to Lawton from Chattanooga in 1933 where he attended Lincoln, Washington and Woodrow Wilson grade schools before graduating from Lawton High School where he played football. Basketball and ran track.  His mile-relay team qualified for the state track meet in 1946.  Fray and several friends joined the Army at the end of WW II.  He spent several months with the occupying forces in Yokohama, Japan.  He returned to Lawton in 1948 where he went to work for Coca-Cola as a route driver and supervisor.  After a brief stint at selling cars, Fray went to work for his cousin Billy Bob Ramey at Bill's Pawn Shop.  He worked there for 20 years before purchasing his own pawn shop, Buck's Pawn, which he owned for over 40 years and still maintained an office until his death.  Fray was a large part of the Lawton community and was proud of helping anyone at anytime. He owned race horses for many years, liked to hunt and fish, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends.  The bonds and relationships he developed through the years, from his time as a youngster in Lawton, to racing horses and running the pawn shop meant the world to him.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Jack D. Palmer and wife Cleta of Chickasha, OK, Mixon Palmer of Lawton, his daughter Jill Ingram of Grand Prairie, TX, 2 step-children, Mary Burton of Lawton, Curtis Grant of Encino, CA, grandchildren, Brett Leedy and wife Heidi of Southlake, TX, Jessica Palmer-McQuary and husband Philip of San Francisco, CA, Jaymi Palmer-Bear and husband Cody of Southlake, TX, Auston Ingram and wife Casey of Waxahachie, TX, Ashley Palmer of Amarillo, TX, Chad Cooper and wife Jennifer of Norman, OK, Jared Cooper of Denver, CO, Rachel, Sarah and Grant Burton, all of Lawton and Christopher and Courtney Grant of Encino, CA.  He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
