Frances Nell Surratt, 97, Lawton was born January 12, 1919 in Walters, Oklahoma to Claude Davis and Neva (Rogers) Stephenson. She married Chester "Chet" Surratt on September 7, 1945 in Wichita Falls, TX. When they married he was a private in the Army and she followed him to various posts through his career. They spent time in Hawaii and finally settled in Lawton after his retirement. They purchased their current home in 1958 and have lived there ever since. Together she and Chet traveled on several cruises, to Mexico, the Bahamas and the Carribean, as well as traveling to Oregon, Branson, California, Yellowstone, New York, Memphis, Arizona and Nevada. She loved crocheting afghan throws for her family and friends, and would always include a tag that said "Made with Love by Grandma Fran". Frances was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church, where she was recognized by the Baptist Convention as the oldest living member of Westwood Baptist Church, recognized on the anniversary of their 50th Anniversary on September 27, 2015. She was always dedicated to decorating the church and arranging flowers for all services and holidays. She will be greatly missed by her family, church and friends.
