Frances A. McKinney, 75, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her home in Indiahoma, Oklahoma. She was born on April 17, 1949, in Lockney, Texas, to Jack and Wilma (Gammage) Kay. Frances was raised in Lawton, Oklahoma, and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1967. On September 6, 1969, she married Don McKinney at Central Baptist Church in Lawton.
Frances earned her bachelor's degree in education from Cameron University and went on to complete her master's degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She dedicated ten years of her career to Lawton Public Schools, working at Crosby Park Elementary. Later, she served as a librarian at both the primary and intermediate schools in the Cache Public Schools District. Even after retiring, Frances continued to share her passion for education by volunteering at Indiahoma and Cache Schools.
She was a faithful member of Indiahoma First Baptist Church. She had also been deeply involved in the children's ministry at First Baptist West during her time there. She found joy in the company of others, staying active in her community by joining a book club, regularly meeting with former colleagues for monthly lunches, and organizing frequent Bunco games. She was an avid reader, loved to win at games and could solve every mystery on television before it was revealed. She also loved the opportunities to have her house full of family and children laughing and playing.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; three children and their spouses, Renae and Greg Klein, Ramona, Oklahoma, Greg and Rebecca McKinney, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Julie and Mike Williams, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Mallori and Wyatt Swinford, Kelsey and Brian Auten, Shelby and Hayden Moseby, Kenzley McKinney, Lyncoln McKinney, Addison Williams and Keegan Williams; six great grandchildren, Liam, Charlotte, Reed, Sutton, Luke and Callen; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lindell and Mary Kay, and J.L. and Debbie Kay.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Falls Creek Youth Fund at Indiahoma First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 26, Indiahoma OK 73552.
