A memorial service for Floyd Yandell Stubblefield will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.
Floyd Yandell Stubblefield, 72, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on December 7, 1951, to Fountain Yandell Stubblefield and Bessie Margie (Wilkerson) Stubblefield.
Floyd and his family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, in 1969. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1972. He was from a military family, so it was no surprise that Floyd eagerly joined the ROTC program while in high school and then, soon after graduation, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served for seven years. After leaving the Navy, Floyd worked in construction, mostly doing electrical work but also working masonry, carpentry, and as a general handyman.
Floyd had a wide range of interests. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, panning for gold, and bull riding. Some would say he was the ultimate mountain man primarily because of his interest in muzzle-loaded shooting, which led him to join a black powder club. At this club, he ultimately tied the knot with the love of his life, Grace Quinette Lemons, on May 19, 1984.
There is no question that Floyd loved his family. However, he had a particularly close relationship with his sister Beth, his father, and his Uncle Clarence and Uncle Joe.
Floyd is survived by his wife of the home; his mother; two daughters, Hope LeBarre and her husband, Anthony, and Faith Tabako and her husband Michael; two grandchildren, Charity Tabako and Austin LeBarre; one great-grandchild, Ashton LeBarre; sisters, Edna Beth Edwards and husband Sam, and Donna Jean Gibson and husband Shaun; four nieces; four great-nephews; and nine great-nieces, all of which were special to him.
He was preceded in death by his father.
