Funeral service for Florence LaVerne Williams will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 25, 2018 at First Baptist East with Hoby Williams officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Florence LaVerne Williams, age 83, of Lawton, was born June 14, 1934 to Hugh and Gladys Sims in Lawton, Oklahoma.  She joined her Heavenly Father on May 19, 2018.

Florence was a member of First Baptist East, Lawton, Oklahoma. She also enjoyed and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Arena Cowboy Church.

She married her high school sweetheart, Rex Baughman, and they were blessed with two children, Terrill and Monna Rae.  Later she married Billy Williams.

She touched many lives with her caring ways, her heart and home were always open. Over the years she welcomed into her home several young people in need of shelter, a good home cooked meal, and loving guidance.   She also was caretaker for many adults needing assistance with daily activities.  She was active and had many hobbies.  She was a long time square dancer and member of the Solo Square Dance Club.  She helped teach square dance students for many years.  The past several years, she attended dances with her companion, Jim Thompson.  She played and organized bridge routinely at the Center for Creative Living.  She was also instrumental in organizing the Geronimo School Reunion each year.  She never met a stranger and made new friends everywhere she went.  She enjoyed going to the lake with Jim and visiting with the Boat Club members as well as traveling to meet Jim's family and military buddies.

She adored and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was even helping with her latest greats, twins Keaton & Kyson, until just a few months ago.   One of her greatest joys was card playing and her favorite partner was her great grandson Noah - they were not easy to beat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, previous husbands Rex Baughman and Billy Williams; brothers Daymond and Raymond.

She is survived by a son, Terry Baughman and wife, Trisha of Rockwall, Texas; a daughter, Monna Rae Williams and husband, Hoby of Cyril, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Todd Baughman and wife Crystal of Sachse, Texas; Crystie Baughman of Dallas, Texas; Colter Williams and wife Malisa of Fletcher, Oklahoma;  Zach Williams and Travis Davis of Yukon, Oklahoma; and great grandchildren: Noah and Jack Baughman, Kyson and Keaton Williams;  brothers: Edward Sims and wife Eva of Geronimo, Oklahoma;  Robert Sims and wife Barbara of Walters, Oklahoma; her companion Jim Thompson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, many, many cousins, extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
