Felicia Y. Ross, 46, of Willingboro, New Jersey and formerly Lawton, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 26, 2022 in Burlington, New Jersey.
Felicia Y. Ross (Hanna) was born September 20, 1975, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to James Hanna, Sr. and Claudine Hanna. The Hanna family decided to pack up and move to Oklahoma in 1983 and Felicia went on to graduate from Lawton Senior High School in 1993 where she was a member of the Ebony Society and the school's stomp team.
After graduation, she met and married Marlo Ross and the couple raised two boys, Tyrique and Christopher, until they decided to separate, yet remained close as they continued to care for and guide their boys into adulthood. In 2013, Felicia relocated back to the East Coast, eventually settling back in New Jersey where she lived the rest of her days.
The eldest of five children, Felicia served as a second mother to her siblings and cousins from an early age and continued to fill that role as needed throughout her life. This selfless service is undoubtedly what made her a great nurse. Felicia started her career as a surgical tech in 2001 and later became an LPN as she worked as a pediatric home health nurse, offering comfort and care to patients and families in critical need. Naturally, Felicia was the right person for the job as she was always quick to put the care of others before herself.
While service is a core element of her being, Felicia always looked for the next new fun adventure, often creating it on her own if none could be found. She loved getting her large extended family together to laugh and create memories. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world and belonged to several travel groups which helped to make that possible. She was an active member of the Ruff Ryders and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Felicia was known for giving everyone a new name if she didn't like the one they were born with, made sure to call and talk with her sisters, mom, and cousins nearly every day, and loved to take photos with people, wearing her signature photogenic smile. Never one to hold back on an opinion, you always knew what was on her mind and in her heart, and no one fought harder to protect and care for her family than her. No one.
She is survived by her children, Tyrique Ross and Christopher Ross, her siblings James Hanna (Victoria), Christopher Hanna (Jennie), Nakisha Watkins (Gregory), and Sabrina Cole (Torrence); her ex-husband Marlo Ross; her cousins, Nakia Moment, Ursula Dalton, Deitra McRae, Donald (Dobbs) McRae and Paul Church; her nieces and nephews, Mahlik, Christian, Nija, Mason, Daija, Nija, Leilah, Darius, AJ, Chris (Dash), Nayda; and a group of friends that often felt more like family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claudine Schooler and James Hanna Sr.; her daughter, Shardazia Hill; her nephew, David Susberry V; and her two aunts, Peggy Ann Williams and Louise Saunders.
