Graveside service for Evelyn Rae "Eve" Dodson will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024, in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma, with Troy Rogers and John Marble, Ministers at Northwest Church of Christ, officiating.
Eve passed away peacefully from this life and into the arms of Jesus on January 1, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on June 14, 1932, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Alexander "Ray" Logsdon and Florine (Frances) Logsdon. The family moved to Hollis, Oklahoma, in 1938. Eve attended school in Hollis, where she was a majorette in the high school band.
When she went to work for Bud Hall's Beauty College in 1956, little did Eve know that it would lead to a life-long passion and a professional career spanning 38 years. Eve was always a strong, independent person, so with determined grit, she bought out Bud Hall in 1959. She moved her new business to 912 "C" Avenue and changed the name to Eve's College of Hair Styling. The college remained under her name at this same location until her retirement in 1995.
During her cosmetology career, Eve's talents touched many lives. She trained hundreds upon hundreds of students in many different hairstyles of the day. Eve was so successful that she was invited to teach in six different countries, including France, Japan, and various nations in Africa. Those experiences led Eve to decorate her home with the treasures she collected from those countries.
When Eve's health began to fail, watching Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, and Rawhide occupied her days. The Western Channel was left on 24/7 and turned up as loud as possible.
Eve remained grounded in her faith. She loved reading her Bible, and when her eyesight faded, she listened to the Bible on tapes. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ.
Preceding Eve in death were her parents and her brother, Forrest W. Logsdon of California.
Eve is survived by daughter Misty Box, Jon Mikal Dodson, one granddaughter, two grandsons, three great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, Eve designated Tipton Children's Home www.tiptonchildrenhome.com for any contributions.
