Funeral service for Evelyn L. Barfield, 96, Lawton, will be 2:00 pm Thursday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leonard Reimer, Chaplain, Promise Care Hospice officiating. Mrs. Barfield died Sunday in Lawton. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Barfield was born on January 6, 1915 in Chattanooga, Oklahoma to Carl F. and Lola Sarah (Haile) Carson. After high school she attended Cameron State Junior College. She had been a resident of Lawton since 1935. Mrs. Barfield had worked for Civil Service until her retirement. She married Woodrow W. Barfield on September 17, 1973 in Lawton. He died on January 8, 1999. She is survived by a son, Ronnie Hines, Lawton; a grandson and his wife, Gregory Hines and Kathy, Lawton; two granddaughters, Kristi Tompkins and her husband Steve, Lawton and Lisa Crawford, Dallas, Texas; five great grandchildren, Melinda Bailey, Lawton, Cassie Lindstrom, Dallas, Ronnie Brant, Lawton, Allenia Matthews, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Rachel Tompkins, Lawton; a great-great granddaughter, Charlotte Brant; two brothers, Carlie Carson, Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Eugene Carson, Geronimo, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ursie Lamb, and five brothers, Thurman, Clyde, Aubrey, Raymond and Oran Carson. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, 1925 W.
