Graveside service for Eva Belle (Barclay) Jennings will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. James B. Graham, III officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Eva was born June 27, 1928 to Alonzo "Bud" and Mae Belle Barclay in Lawton, Oklahoma and passed from this life on February 27, 2025 in Lawton. She was raised on a farm east of Lawton, attending a one room school house. She later attended school in Cache and then Faxon where she graduated in 1946. She attended Cameron College and then married Pete Braxton Jennings upon his return from serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married for 68 years until Pete's death in 2016.
Eva was employed for many years by Civil Service at Fort Sill, with her last job being in the Chaplain's Office, where she retired from in 1981. Pete and Eve built a home in Faxon, where she enjoyed having horses, gardening, cooking on the creek and serving on the Faxon Town Board of Trustees. However, she soon missed being "where the action is" and started selling real estate, keeping the highway hot driving to Lawton everyday.
She was also a Mary Kay consultant for many years and sold handmade items through her "Keepsakes by Eva" business.
Eva was passionate about politics and stayed active in the Republican Party. She also loved doing volunteer work at Southwestern Medical Center until COVID-19 prevented it. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women groups. She also enjoyed cooking for the LOGOS children/youth program.
In her later years, Eva began eating 2-3 times a day at Whataburger, sometimes with friends, other times with people she met there and became friends with, including staff who lovingly called her "Miss Eva", a nickname that carried over to the Morada Retirement Center where she currently resided.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, a brother and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mikel and Clyde Hill; a grandson, Cody Hill and wife Chelsey; great grandson, Callan Hill; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Joyce, Ruth, Kenneth, Barbara, Juliana, Donna and Chuck.
Eva's family is extremely grateful for the love and excellent care she received from Dr. Krista Gordon, Complete OK Home Health & Hospice and the entire staff at Morada Assisted Living Center. They were all truly her guardian angels.
Memorial contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church or to your favorite charity.
