God has called his Angel home.  Mrs. Emma Jeanette (Jan) Marley danced her way into the gates of

heaven on 25 July 2018.  Jan, as our Mother liked to be called, was born in Florala, Alabama on November 27, 1932 to Gladys and John M. Dean.  She was a courageous woman who lost her battle with dementia at the age of 85.

Although God called her home, we know that it was Mom who said to God "Ikimashou Kudashi" meaning "Let's go, please".

Mom was preceded in death by her brother, John Dean, and her first husband, CSM (Ret) Melvin J.

Holifield, and survived by their 6 children, Patricia and her husband Dave; Mona and her husband Tim; Phil and his wife Hazel; Mike and his wife Laura; Julie and her husband Darrell; and Chris and his wife Janet; along with her 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Mom is also survived by the man of her dreams and the man God blessed her with, her second husband of 30 years, Col (Ret) John T. (Ted) Marley III, a graduate of West Point Academy, and his 3 children, Lisa, John and Steve and 2 grandchildren.  Ted gave Mom a life of so much love and happiness.  They traveled the world together and he treated her like his Queen and she has the Tiara to prove it.

Mom always had a special place in her heart for those who served our country and was a longtime volunteer

at the Ft Sill Army Community Service. Ted and Mom would often sponsor soldiers from Ft Sill, and students from Turkey.  She also worked at the Fort Sill National Bank for 10 years.  Mom was a fashionista and an accomplished seamstress at a very young age, who sewed most of her own clothes and those of her children to include prom dresses, coats, shirts and even clothes for our Barbie and Ken dolls (when we were younger, of course).  Mom loved the blue skies of Oklahoma and the sunsets at Pensacola beach.  She loved crossword puzzles (and never cheated), entertaining, traveling, her Dallas Cowboys, shopping, singing and especially dancing.  But most of all she loved her beloved dog Kiki.  Parents aren't supposed to have favorites; however, we all knew where we stood when it came to her baby KiKi.

Mom kept her witty sense of humor, her classic one-liners, and the banter between her and Ted until the

very end, making us laugh and cry all at the same time.  She knew she was given the gift of life and told

us it was time to give it back saying "God needs my help".  Most any woman can be a mother, but it takes

someone special to be a Mom.  She will be missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to the entire staff at

The Chateau for the wonderful help and loving care they gave Mom.  We know she became a part of your family and you became a part of ours. We know you will miss your Queen Bee as Mom was affectionately referred to. May God Bless each and everyone of you.

Donations are also welcomed in Mom's name to The Alzheimer's Association, 6425 N.W. Cache Road, #102, Lawton, OK  73 505.
