Eloise Timmons Neal died Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 77. She was born in Alameda, California to Aubrey John "Pete" and Florence Hussey Timmons. At a young age, she moved to Ada, Oklahoma, her father's hometown. She attended Latta Schools near Ada where she graduated in 1964.
Eloise married Kenny Neal on June 18, 1965 in Ada. They were married until her passing. This union bore two children, Kendi Kerle and Kevin Paul. Kendi passed away in 1976 at the age of eight. She and Kevin remained very close and she was quite proud of the man he had grown to be, although she still saw him as her kid. She had one biological grandson, Keeson Neal, and two grandchildren through marriage, Celeste and Zach, whom she loved as her own.
Eloise worked as a teacher's aide in Ada Public Schools until the family moved to Lawton in 1985. She later attended Cameron University and earned her Bachelors in Teaching. She then began teaching for Lawton Public Schools. She taught in several elementary schools until she had the opportunity to teach in a school established for unhoused children of all ages. She loved all children and wanted them all to succeed.
As part of spending time with her son, she joined the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, where she and Kevin served in many ways to assist in keeping navigable waterways safe for all to enjoy. She served in places such as Lake Texoma and the Arkansas River. She earned a special commendation for working at the I-40 bridge collapse at Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. One of their greatest achievements was the creation of gingerbread houses that were modeled after the USCGC Barque Eagle and a lighthouse, which they were asked to display at several Coast Guard events and stations.
Eloise will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Kenny Neal, of the home. Son Kevin Neal and wife Lyna of Lawton. Grandchildren Keeson Neal and Zach Silkey, of Lawton and Celeste Silkey-Fleming of Colorado. She will be missed by her puppy Roco. She also leaves behind several extended family members.
At her request, there will be no services. She will be interred at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada Oklahoma next to her daughter Kendi.
