It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Elizabeth Nevarez (Liz). She passed away peacefully and was called home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025, in Lawton Oklahoma at the age of 92.
Born on July 19, 1932, in Spur, Texas , Liz lived a long, full life rooted in love, family, and hard work. She married Bentura Nevarez, Sr. and began her lifelong dedication to raising her children, always putting their needs before hers. Liz loved each of her children and they all knew and felt her love. She was the heart of her family - a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. Liz always welcomed you into her home with open arms and a good hot meal. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and generous heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Liz was a woman of quiet strength, deep wisdom, with boundless love for her family. She devoted her life to raising her children and later becoming a cherished grandmother to 33 grandchildren and numerous great-and great-great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, sew, and tell stories from the "old days" - each one told with humor and vivid detail. Many of her grandchildren will carry their memories of their homemade hammer time pants and jam shorts made with so much love for each of them by their grandma.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bentura Nevarez, her parents, her three sisters and two daughters, Linda Conover and Belia Zamora. She is survived by daughters, Ester Ortega, ( Zeferino),Yolanda Molina, Carolyn Cordes (Tim), Brenda Toehay (Marion), Vickie Leyja, Beatrice Nevarez, Rachel Reemts (Roy), Paula Hubbard (Chuck) and her sons Bentura Nevarez, Jr. (Elena), Arnold Nevarez, Herman Joel Nevarez-Berg and Edward Aleman; 33 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Her legacy of kindness, patience, and grace will live on in all of us who loved her. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the beautiful memories and the lasting impact she leaves behind.
A funeral service will be held on May 27th, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Snyder First Baptist Church with Rev. Landon Warren, Pastor officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate a life so beautifully lived. "In Christ, we have hope beyond this life." -1 Corinthians 15:19. Forever in our hearts, we will miss her dearly.
