Edna Francine Haggard Hennessee, 88, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Grapevine, Texas, with her family by her side.

Edna was born on July 8, 1937, in Telephone, Texas, to Francis Taft Haggard and Cora Lou Henderson Haggard. The youngest of four children, she grew up on a 200-acre farm near Bokchito, Oklahoma. The family formed a gospel singing group that performed around Oklahoma and North Texas. Gospel music and faith stayed close to Edna's heart throughout her life.

Edna attended Southeastern State University and had a long career teaching second and third grades in the Lawton Public School System, mostly at Kuntz Elementary. Generations of students remember her as a warm, caring teacher.

Edna married Ed Hennessee in 1958. Devoted to each other, they were married for 46 years until Ed's passing in 2004. They had three children: JoLynn, Paul, and David. Edna was the heart of her family, and it meant everything to her. She made each member of the family feel seen, supported, and cherished.

Edna loved music, gardening, flowers, birds, and decorating. Later in life, she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, either touring with family or visiting them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Cora Haggard; her husband, Ed Hennessee; her sisters, Corine Roberts and Retha Cole; her brothers-in-law, Gloyd Roberts and Boyd Cole; and her sister-in-law, Doris Jean Haggard.

She is survived by her brother, Paul Wintzel Haggard of Greensboro, North Carolina; her daughter, JoLynn Godwin, and husband, Brian Godwin, of Grapevine, Texas; her son, Paul Hennessee, and wife, Rebecca Weis, of New York City; her son, David Hennessee of San Luis Obispo, California; her granddaughters, Chloe Hennessee, Ande Godwin, and Audrey Hennessee; her great-granddaughter, Harmony Rose Hennessee; her niece, Karen Alviso; her nephews, Steven Cole, Bruce Roberts, John Haggard, and Robert Haggard; her grandnieces, Vanessa Cole and Katherine Roberts; her grandnephews, Brandon Alviso and Nicholas Roberts; her sister-in-law, Dreama Hennessee; and numerous relatives in Oklahoma and North Texas.
