Obituary

Funeral service for Edith G. Jensen will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Bill Schneider, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church officiating.

Edith, 85, passed away on December 5, 2016, in Lawton and went to be with our heavenly Father.

She was born on December 5, 1931 in Berlin, Germany to Bruno and Anna Gerschke.  She lived there until she met her husband who was stationed in Germany.  He was later stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and then at Ft. Sill, OK.

She lost her husband and father of her five children, Lt. Col. Franklin S. Jensen, in her early thirties.  She was a homemaker who was deeply devoted to her children.  She loved her children dearly and raised them alone in Lawton after her husband passed away.  Her grandchildren called her Nanny as did other children that she took care of.  She had a great love and special place in her heart for children as well as the elderly.

Edith loved taking rides to the Holy City in the Wichita National Wildlife Refuge especially in the Fall when the leaves were changing colors and falling from the trees.  She would say "The leaves are dancing and romancing."

She will be dearly missed by all who loved her and we will carry her in our hearts forever.  "Think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much."

Survivors include her son, Mark Jensen, of Lawton; daughter, Ellen Marra of McKinney, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Pam Jensen of Lawton.  She is also survived by her grandsons Chad Marra and wife Heather Marra of Wylie, TX, and Ryan Jensen of Lawton; granddaughters Sabre Clayton of McKinney, TX, Kristen Marra of Arvada, CO, and Macy Jensen of Lawton; great grandson, Jack Clayton of McKinney, TX; great granddaughters Grace Clayton of McKinney, TX, Avery Marra and Ashleigh Marra of Wylie, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Eric Jensen; daughter, Margaret Jensen, and her two brothers.

The family would like to give our deepest thanks to those that cared for her the past four years at McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center.

Memorial contribution may be made in Edith's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN  38148-0142.
