Funeral Services for Duane Redding, 98, will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Becker Rabon Funeral Home Chapel, Lawton, Oklahoma, with Lee Carter officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lawton, Oklahoma.
Duane Worth Redding was born on October 25, 1927, to Ira and Olga Redding in Milo, Oklahoma. He was the only son in a family of ten. He served in the United States Army, barely missing WWII. He married the love of his life, Virginia Anderson, on December 17, 1949. They were happily married for 73 years until her passing on November 16, 2023.
Duane worked for 40 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, beginning as a lineman and retiring as a central office technician. His love of gardening was evident year after year in his beautiful yard, and he passed that passion on to his family. He completed Master Gardener training at the age of 90.
Duane was a longtime Deacon and member of Northside Baptist church. He enjoyed life and wanted everyone around him to as well. Many times, he would say quirky things, just to make us laugh. He was loved and will be missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Valeeta Viani of Lawton, and her children, Tyler and Aubry Viani. Also, by his son, David Duane Redding and wife Ruth of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, along with their children, Sharon Harper, Kristin Diaz, Hank Barton, and George Barton. There are also many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, all of whom he is looking forward to seeing again.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Virginia Redding; Son-in-law, Tim Viani; and his nine sisters.
