Funeral service for Dorothy M. McLemore will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Western Hills Christian Church with Rev. Jack Lee officiating.

Private family burial will be Monday, April 24, 2017 at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Dorothy M. McLemore, age 86, Lawton, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at her residence.  She was born in Hayward, California on January 21, 1931.  In 1943 she lost her mother and was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Poppy and Mabe Kutz.  She grew up and attended school in California and graduated in 1949.  On an unplanned and last minute trip to Oklahoma with a friend she entered nursing school and met the love of her life, Junior McLemore.  They were married July 4, 1952 in Clinton, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on January 3, 2011.  To this union two children were born, Mikel in 1953 and Susan in 1957.

Dorothy completed nursing school and went on to have a twenty-four year career with Dr. Henley and Dr. Hillis at the Great Plains Women's Clinic in Lawton.  She also worked for Dr.'s Montague and Jones.

She was a member of Crystal Hills Free Will Baptist Church.  She enjoyed photography, crafts, fishing and baking.  Her most special times were spent with family at their Ft. Cobb lake house.

She is survived by her children, Mikel and Susan; four grandchildren, Amber, Jenni, Cristina and Bryan; four great grandchildren, Gavin, Gunner, Cai and Finn; and her precious dog and best friend, Roscoe.
