Memorial service for Dorothy Haley, 77, Lawton, will be 10:00 am Friday in the First United Methodist Church of Lawton with Rev. Al Potts, Pastor, officiating. Mrs. Haley died Tuesday in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Haley was born on August 23, 1933 in Madison County, Iowa to LeRoy V. and Edith (Seybold) Brown. She was reared in Adams County, Iowa and graduated from Corning High School. She attended nurses training at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She served in various nursing positions in the Fort Worth, Texas and Kansas City, Kansas areas before settling in Lawton. Dorothy served as an obstetrics and emergency room nurse with the Public Health Service at the Lawton/ Fort Sill Indian Hospital, assisting with the delivery of numerous beautiful babies. Dorothy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawton and took great joy from singing in the choir. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Shirley and her husband Gary Orr, Conrad and his wife Susan Van Buren, and Ellen McCool; six grandchildren, Michael Daniels, Brandon Orr, Miranda Daniels Barnard and her husband Joshua, Amber D. Orr, Jessica Susanne Van Buren, and Jacob McCool; two adored great grandchildren, Jett Barnard and Brinnley Barnard; two cherished sisters, Joyce Bergman and Arlene Sanford; cousins, Bonnie Morrow and Judy Sparks; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Charlotte Walter Thomas; and her brothers in law, Vernon Walter, Les Thomas and John Bergman. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1320 Homestead Drive, Lawton, OK 73505, or the charity of the donors choice. Another memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Corning, Iowa.
