Dorothy S. Goode, 86, Lawton was born March 19, 1929 in Deer Creek, OK to Glenn and Maymie Prichard Stinnett. Dorothy lived in Lawton since she was two years old. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Lawton Junior High School, and Lawton High School where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1947. She graduated from Cameron Junior College as Valedictorian in 1949. She then attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1951 with a B.S. in Business Education, and recognized as the outstanding senior with the highest grade point average in the College of Education. She was the accompanist for the Music Departments at both Lawton High and Cameron while a student at those schools. She was a member of the following college organizations: Phi Theta Kappa (International Honor Society for Junior Colleges), Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education), and Pi Omega Pi (National Business Education Teacher Honor Society). After graduation from OU, Dorothy taught in the Business Department of Lawton High School from 1951 to 1956. She married Neal A. Goode on July 28, 1951 in Lawton, OK. They were a devoted married couple for over 63 years. Neal preceded her in death on January 30, 2015. Dorothy was a former member of the Lawton-Ft Sill Women's Bowling Association and served as secretary of the His and Hers Mixed League for 33 years from 1966 to 1999. She enjoyed going to bowling tournaments (both state and national) with her local women's team and also as a supporter for her husband's teams. Along with her husband, she was instrumental in organizing the Lawton-Ft Sill Junior Bowling Association and served as a coach in youth bowling leagues for many years. She enjoyed the many summer camping trips with the family while her children were still at home, visiting many National Parks and other scenic sites throughout the United States. She especially enjoyed the yearly summer camping trip to Lake Fort Cobb with the entire family of children, children's spouses, and granddaughters. She and Neal took many trips to Colorado in the summer and to Port Aransas, TX in the autumn and one of their most memorable trips was to New England to see the colorful fall foliage. Dorothy loved her family and her family loved her. She was a good cook and enjoyed cooking meals for all of the family. Her granddaughters were the delight of her heart. She and Neal thoroughly enjoyed attending any event their children, children's spouses, or granddaughters were involved in.
She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church from the mid-60's until the last several years when her health failed. She was the church pianist for 10 years from 1976 to 1986 and was also a member of various church committees. She was a faithful attender of the women's Sunday school class and taught several years in the 1st Grade Sunday School class. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and mammaw and was very faithful, along with her husband, in ensuring her children were raised in a Christian home and attended church regularly. Her unconditional love and encouragement of her children and grandchildren have made an enduring positive impact on their lives.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Randy Goode and his wife, Remy of Lawton; a daughter, Karen (Goode) Hall and her husband Jeff of Lawton; 2 granddaughters, Staci (Goode) Montgomery and husband Brian of Louisville, KY, and Kayla Hall of Lawton, and several nieces and nephews.
