Obituary

Funeral service for Donnie (Hicks) Hogan, 85, Lawton, will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Charles W. Whitlow, Pastor officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. God saw it fit to call one of his precious angels, our beloved mother Donnie Marie, from labor to reward on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Donnie Marie was born on March 20, 1926 in a little two room house in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Lena Mae Wiley and William P. Kuykendall, who both preceded her in death. Donnie graduated from Anadarko High School where she excelled in Performing Arts in Music, Tap Dancing and Ballet. In 1952, she met and married Osber Hicks. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters and one son. The family became members of Union Baptist Church, where Donnie served in the choir, Usher Board, and anywhere else that was needed. She loved children and operated a home daycare center for more than thirty years. Mom was one of the most free spirited and had the biggest heart. She would open her home to anyone that needed a hot meal or a place to lay their head. In her "Golden Years", she met and married Nathan Hogan, the love of her life. Donnie joined her husband Nathan at Living Word Ministries and was a faithful member. Up until the day she was called home, they were inseparable, and their love for each other was a testimony to love unconditionally through sickness and health. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Nathan, two daughters, Deirdreia (Dee Dee) Ranson of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Osber Hicks of Lawton, a sister Birdlene Banks of Lawton, a brother Gary Kuykendall of Chickasha, OK, six grandchildren, Roshaunda, Tisheka (Tehia), Roshelle, Colby, Roger and Darieon, 12 great grandchildren, 7 step-children and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Her son, William "Bill" Hicks, and her parents preceded her in death.
