Donald Thomas Stilley died Monday, January 29, 2024 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 81.  He was born October 11, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The youngest of five children of stepfather, Joseph M. Kompas, and mother, June Kompas.  Don enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17.  When he first enlisted, he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he met and married Susan M. Briggs.  Together they had three children:  Joseph, Mark and Donald, Jr.  Don served two tours of duty in Vietnam while serving his country.  He retired from the military after a 20-year career and decided to further his education, so he enrolled at Cameron University and earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice.  Don took his degree and became a parole officer for the State of Oklahoma and served in this role for 20 years until he retired again.

Don, having three sons, spent his free time with his wife, Susan, raising those sons to be men who knew how to take care of themselves and how to help others.  Before the end of his life, he would take his golden retriever, Honey, to the local VA Center in Lawton because it brought peace to his fellow vets.  He sometimes sounded like a hard man but those who knew him knew it was because he cared deeply.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Patricia Stilley, Katy, Texas, Mark and Donna Stilley, Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Donald Stilley, Jr., Lawton; 11 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
