Funeral for Dolores A. Shumate, 80, Lawton will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Dawson, associate pastor at First Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Shumate died Saturday in Lawton. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born June 28, 1930 in Waldren, Arkansas and grew up in Fort Smith. She married Paul C. Shumate on March 1, 1950 in Paris, Arkansas. They moved to Lawton in 1964. Mrs. Shumate worked for the Department of Human Services for many years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and had attended First Assembly of God in her later years. She was an avid reader. Mrs. Shumate was a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, of the home, two daughters, Belinda Silverstar, Tulsa and Sherry Cates and her husband Michael, Knoxville, Tennessee, three grandchildren, Jennifer Cates, Cairo, Egypt, Erin Cates, Knoxville and Hannah Kerns and her husband Dustin, Little Rock, Arkansas and a great granddaughter, Sophia Grace Kerns, Little Rock. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and August (Kusel) Harrison and a brother, David Dozier.
