Age 64, Lawton - Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Serenity Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Fincher officiating. Mr. Smith died Wednesday in Ardmore. Arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. He was born December 21, 1945 in Lawton to Dennis and Allene (Vanbebber) Smith and soon after the family moved to Stillwater. They returned to Lawton in 1951 and Mr. Smith graduated from Lawton High School in 1964. Van had lived in Tulsa for almost 20 years and following his retirement moved back to Lawton to be near his father who passed away in 2008. Mr. Smith enjoyed Bowling, Square Dancing and was a member of Olivet Baptist Church. He is survived by three children, Kelley Van Smith, Dee Dee Biber and Mendy Johnston; seven Grandchildren, Bryce Smith, Dylan Smith, Kasey Smith, Jacob Biber, Megan Biber, Brooklynn Johnston and Cooper Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents and two very special people, Rheba Carlson Smith and Peggy Burk.
