A service celebrating the life of Dennis W. Merrifield, Sr., will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 in the Church, 1130 SW Lee Blvd. with Danny El Kouri officiating.

Dennis W. "Denny" Merrifield, Sr., age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 20, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Samuel B. Merrifield III and Doris M. (Fultz) Merrifield. On September 19, 1966, Denny married the love of his life, Mary Lou Pickey, in Louisville.

Denny was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and openly shared his faith with everyone he encountered. For over 20 years, he was a dedicated elder and active member of Word Alive Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. A proud U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Denny fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening his own business in 1997 in which he operated until his retirement in 2017.

In his free time, Denny found joy in many hobbies, including golf, fishing, and watching westerns. He was an active participant with Bill W. and cherished the time spent with his family and friends, whom he loved deeply.

Denny touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and loving spirit. He will be remembered as one of the kindest and most caring people one could ever meet.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58, years, Mary Lou Merrifield; his daughter, Holly; his sons, Denny, Chad and Eric; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley, and his parents, Samuel and Doris Merrifield.
