Word has been received of the death of David R. Lawson, 80, Lawton. Mr. Lawson died Tuesday in Lawton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. He was born April 28, 1932 in Michigan to Acklyn Wood and Marguerite (Smith) Lawson. He grew up in Michigan where he attended school prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the military he worked in the retail industry as a visual merchandiser having worked for Macy's and Stern's Department Stores in New Jersey. He had been a Lawton resident since 1998. He took great pleasure in supporting and volunteering for many various charities and served as a volunteer with Comanche County Memorial Hospital for 13 years. He is survived by his friend, Bobby Criner, of the home; a sister, Dorothy Holman, Trenton, Michigan; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
