Graveside service for Darrell Ernst Mietchen, 60, Lawton will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the Highland Cemetery, Lawton with Rev. Charles Pettigrew, Pastor of Liberty Heights Christian Church, Lawton officiating. Mr. Mietchen died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his home in Lawton. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. He was born January 14, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, Washington to Everett A. and Marion Mietchen. He grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1972. Darrell was a carpenter, and was a member of the local Carpenter's Union 1585 for many years. For the last ten years, he was employed by the Lawton Public School System. He worked with his son, Chris, making repairs and maintaining all schools in Lawton and Fort Sill. He loved working on cars with his son, Chris. He is survived by his mother, Marion Mietchen of Lawton, wife Kathy Mietchen of Lawton, son Chris Mietchen of Lawton, daughters; Robin Mietchen of Lawton, and Rachel Weathers and husband Wes of Yukon, OK, five grandchildren; Josh, Lindsey, Rebecca and Stormi Weathers of Yukon, OK and Lorene Mietchen of Lawton, brothers; David Mietchen and wife Jo of Lawton, Danny Mietchen and wife Jana of Lawton, a sister, Carol Collins and husband Dennis of Fulton, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Everett A. Mietchen, a niece Carla Tharp and his grandparents.
