A Celebration honoring the life of Darrell Lynn Melton, Sr., 63, Coalgate, Oklahoma, will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the First Baptist Church, Snyder.

Burial will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.

The family will greet friends Friday evening, November 8, 2019 from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.

Darrell passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at his home in Coalgate, Oklahoma with his wife Carol at his side, after a brief battle with cancer.  He was born July 10, 1956 in Lubbock, Texas to Mel and Lillie (Hankins) Melton.  At a young age the family moved to Oklahoma City, then to Mountain Park where Darrell attended and graduated from Mountain Park High School in 1974.  Darrell worked as an equipment operator in the oil field, framed houses and worked for Kiowa County District 3 in Snyder.  He enjoyed working on cars and spending time playing with his grandchildren that were the love of his life.  Darrell married Carol Beeson on February 27, 1986 in Vernon, Texas.  They made their home in Mountain Park before moving to Coalgate.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Carol of the home, a son Darrell Lynn Melton, Jr., and wife Ashley of Sentinel, Oklahoma, 5 daughters, Melissa Gamez of Oklahoma City, Robin Beeson of Mustang, Oklahoma, Gina Shelton and husband Donald of Mangum, Oklahoma, Krissy Shelton and husband Larry of Coalgate, Oklahoma and Hannah Sweeting and fiance Kevin Duke of Snyder.  He is also survived by 4 brothers, Bobby Melton of Snyder, Earl Melton of Mountain Park, Gary Melton of Purvis, Mississippi, Dale Remy and wife Aimee of Weatherford, Oklahoma, 3 sisters, Becky Goldman and husband Jack of Frederick, Oklahoma, Sharon Ray and husband Tony of Mountain Park, Linda Marie Ryan of Parker, Texas, 2 sisters-in-law, Tammy Lambert and husband Ronnie and Debbie Campbell and husband Eddie, 5 brothers-in-law, Burt Burden and wife Peggy, Carl Burden and wife Vickie, Lee Burden, Johnny Burden and wife Billye, Richard Powell, 8 grandsons, Mason Dempsey, Jayden Melton, Gavin Beeson, Kason, Laryn and Dalyn Shelton and Bryson and Sean Shelton, 11 granddaughters, Alice Long, Lillyann, Emma and Adalynn Melton, Adrianna, Emma and Bristan Gamez, Reese and Rylan Beeson and Lainey and Paisley Beeson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, many other loving family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Charles Ray Melton, mother Lillie Remy, father and step-mother, Mel and Dusty Melton, father-in-law Ivory Burden, mother-in-law Iva Dean Burden, grandson Adrian Gonzales, his sister Lenda Remy Powell, brother Tommie Gee, his grandparents Wallace and Marie Melton, Bill and Cleo Smith, and a nephew Michael Allen Calvin.
