Funeral for Danny T. Self, Sr., 65, Elgin will be at 1:30 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel, Lawton with Pastor Billy Harmon, Arena Cowboy Church officiating. Mr. Self died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his home. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. He was born September 7, 1948 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Olen and Macel (Hooper) Self. He married Helen F. Houser on April 16, 1971 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He had been a member of the IBEW for thirty-four years. Danny was appointed as the southern region organizer for Local 1141 in August of 2004. He served the local in this capacity until he retired in 2011. Danny used his love for the IBEW and unique experiences and relationships from many years working in the fields and on the road to help create more and better jobs in the southern part of the local work area. But most importantly to the brothers and sisters he was so proud to serve, Danny was just the go-to guy for any problem a person might have. He really enjoyed giving back to the IBEW and being in a position to be able to help people. Survivors include his wife, of the home, three children, Donna Kay Self, Elgin, Terri Turner and her husband Juan, Comanche and Danny T. Self, Jr., Elgin, five grandchildren, Randy Widenhouse, Brittany Widenhouse, Tyler Widenhouse and Dakota Scott, all of Lawton and Shelby Turner, Duncan, a great granddaughter, Carli Widenhouse, Lawton, two brothers, Joe Self, Elgin and Keith Self and his wife Barbara, Fletcher, two sisters, Donna Cummins and her husband Glen, Elgin and Gail Ferguson and her husband Mike, Des Moines, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary Self.
