He was born March 19, 1979 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Dennis and Elaine Drake. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Lawton in 1997. Garrett was married to Crystal Lynn White on June 15, 2002 in Baytown Texas. One of the greatest joys of his life was on February 22, 2005 when his daughter Kayleigh Lynn was born.
Garrett graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology and Ministry. Garrett continued his education and received his Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 2011. Garrett was ordained in the Nazarene church in 2002 and commissioned in the Methodist church in 2013.
Garrett's ministry began in Heber Springs at the Church of the Nazarene during the summer of 1998 working with youth ministry. His youth ministry continued at the First Church of the Nazarene in Baytown Texas from 1999 to 2002. Garrett served as pastor at Springdale Friends Church in McLouth, Kansas from 2002 to 2005 while attending seminary. From 2005 to 2010 Garrett lead a church plant in Baytown Texas for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America called Gulfbay Church. Gulfbay Church was Garrett's idea to reach those that traditional churches would not reach and was located in a movie theater complete with popcorn and movie sermons. From 2010 to 2013 Garrett served as associate pastor at Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha Oklahoma. From 2014 to 2015 Garrett served at the Missouri Conference.
In 2015, Garrett transitioned to the nonprofit sector by accepting an offer to become CEO of an organization he would ultimately reorganize as MidAmerica Alliance for Access. In 2017 Garrett founded a new nonprofit in Missouri focused on helping people with disabilities called 'Scripted Healthcare Systems' with his best friend and business partner Casey Guernsey. His passion for helping people with disabilities remain in their home allowed him to continue ministering to people with two companies within Scripted. 'Access Personal Care, LLC' and 'Accessibility Medical Equipment LLC' both care for hundreds of people every month by helping people with disabilities stay at home and have access to quality medical equipment.
Garrett was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Ernest and Betty Roper of Lawton, Oklahoma.
