Coy Daryl Thompson, 89, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Lawton. He was born on October 17, 1935, in Cement, Oklahoma, to Coy Virgil and Dollie Mae (Robertson) Thompson.

In his early years, Daryl's family relocated to California, where extended family and job opportunities awaited them. They settled in Pacifica, where Daryl spent several years living near a golf course. As a boy, he caddied for golfers and collected and sold lost golf balls-a small venture that showcased his enterprising spirit from an early age.

At the age of 17, Daryl enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 9, 1952. He proudly served until his honorable discharge on December 8, 1960, training in airborne electronics navigation equipment at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.

In 1966, Daryl met the love of his life, Annette, in Visalia, California. They were married on May 20, 1967, in Tulare, California. Although Daryl hailed from Cement, Oklahoma, and Annette from Tonkawa, Oklahoma, their paths crossed in California in what would become a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion.

Daryl worked as an electronics engineer, later transferring to Los Angeles, where he contributed to companies such as Sprague Electric, Magnavox, and Teledyne Technologies. With his keen mind for innovation, he eventually launched his own businesses in electronics manufacturing-ECP and Tri Mag, Inc., the latter of which remains in operation today. Daryl was also involved in the early development of wind power generators in Tehachapi, California. After his time in the electronics industry, he purchased a carpet cleaning franchise, Dye-Namic Carpet Cleaning and Dyeing, continuing his entrepreneurial journey.

A devoted husband and father, Daryl was deeply involved in his children's lives, coaching sports and serving as Little League president and Pop Warner Football player agent. He had a deep love for studying the Bible, reading books by his favorite authors, and playing games on his tablet. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he served as an elder in several churches.

Daryl will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He and Annette were devoted members of Western Hills Christian Church in Lawton, where they found a strong community of faith and friendship.

Daryl is survived by his wife of the home, four children, Michael Fuss and wife Janet of Visalia, California, Mark Fuss of Scotts Valley, California, Ronette Fuss of Oakland, California, and David Thompson of Visalia, California, three grandchildren, Vallan and Skyler Fuss and Rachelle Waggo and husband Andy, two great grandchildren, Drew and Dakota Waggo, two sisters, Judy Walpole of Rancho Cordova, California and Carol Lagassey of Mountain House, California and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Claburn and Gilbert Thompson.
