Clay Allen Hubanks, 84, departed his earthly life on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma.  He was born in Harmon County, Oklahoma on July 13, 1937 to Ira Clay and Opal Inez (Payne) Hubanks.  He lived on a farm near Childress, Texas early in life, learning to appreciate the outdoors.  Later, while living with his maternal family near Duke, Oklahoma he learned to fish and hunt, becoming very proficient at both.  He attended school at Prairie Hill School near Duke.  After his parents divorced, Clay returned to live with his father and step-mother Angie (Abercrombie-Graham) and her children, Jimmy Von Graham and Marilyn Kay Graham in Hollis.  As a teenager , he learned the skills of repairing automobiles and painting vehicles at Rippetoe and Son Paint and Body Shop in Hollis.  In September 1960, Clay married the love of his life, Una Marie Longest in Gould, Oklahoma.  Marie and Clay started their own business, Clay's Body Shop in Hollis, painting and repairing damaged vehicles.  Una Marie died in March of 1986 from cancer.  After Una Marie's death, Clay began to search for the purpose of his life.  He often fished late at night for catfish and became a prayer warrior.  Late one night at Lake Hall he had an epiphany.  He saw a bright light shining all around him and heard the command to share Jesus with everyone.  Later he believed that he needed to share Jesus with more children and wanted to start an afterschool program and a summer camp to attract children to learn more about Jesus.  He collected scrap metal and invested in property in Hollis, in an attempt to fund his dream.  Clay lived a reclusive life in his later years, except for making his rounds at local convenience stores and restaurants to drink coffee or soft drinks and to eat meals.  Often he would join in discussions with friends or strangers bringing up his love for Jesus and asking "Do you know him?".  On Saturday, October 2, 2021 after reaching one of Heaven's gates, Clay was welcomed by his Lord and Savior Jesus and a host of relatives and friends.  He received his ultimate healing, no pain, no more confusion, restored hearing and vision and the dyslexia that prevented him from learning to read throughout his life.

He is survived by his sister Marilyn Kay (Graham) Worrell and Wayne of Alamogordo, New Mexico, his brother John Mark Hubanks and Ramona of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his mother Opal Inez (Payne, Hubanks) Dickerson, his father, Ira Hubanks, step-mother Angie (Abercrombie, Graham) Hubanks, brother Jimmy Von Graham and many extended family members and friends.
